Elaborate Fire and Security Systems can require monitoring services that link directly to fire and police departments. These services will call a list of numbers first and will call till they reach someone. Charges can be prohibitive due the costs of false alarms.  Many Fire/Police Departments charge for false alarms. These costs typically put fire/security alarm systems out of reach for smaller kennel operations.

As in any alarm system, false alarms are the main downfall because if confidence in the system is not there, action on the alarm may not be taken seriously.
